Vintage Fashion & Costume Jewelry Convention

11/20/2009 -My October lecture at the Vintage Fashion and Costume Jewelry convention in Providence, RI focused
on "Women in the Jewelry Industry". It focused on the personal lives of Miriam Haskell, Coco Chanel,
Hattie Carneige, Alice Caviness, Adele Simpson, Nettie Rosenstein, Haskell's tragic tale brought tears
to the eyes of many of the audience, the strength of Caviness, the loves of Chanel, was supported
by tables filled with actual pieces of their work left for posterity. The convention drew members from
all over the United States, Canada, Germany and Japan. VFCJ publishes a magazine four times a year
for distribution within the club, mailing out about 800 copies. The conventions are held every two years,
next one will be 2011.
