Bettina's best dolls are displayed in eight huge glass cabinets in the top floor of her Dusseldorf home. She has turned over a bedroom, her cellar and half the kitchen in her house to accommodate them. She started collecting them because she played with them as a child. She has over 1500 dolls in the one room that is show on youtube. Bettina started collecting Barbies 12 years ago. Her first one was a rare Midge doll, brought out by Mattel in 1963 and marketed as Barbie's best friend. "People say Bettina looks like Barbie. She has even set up a repair service with people sending her dolls from all across the world. She plans a collection of at least 10,000 dolls. Bettina Dorfmann says she will not stop collecting Barbies until she dies. |
