The author defines cottage collectibles as "all your mother's or grandmother's stuff re-packaged and mixed with your great-grandmother's heirlooms blended together with the 'stuff' your kids brought home from college." It is a look that married different periods and styles together. It is separated in specific styles such as beach cottage, rustic, retro, and others. The author also explained the style basics for the cottage styles including furnishings, colors, forms, lightly, patterns, etc. There is also a discussion of famous cottage communities, suggestions on how to display this collectible and ideas on where to find cottage treasures.
